Immediate lifting effect

Aim of the Study

The study has assessed:

  • The effect of the product in reducing the appearance of wrinkles in the short term, thus showing the immediate “lifting” effect ;
  • The hydrating, elasticizing and smoothing action of the product.

Subjects of the Study

The study was conducted on 20 female subjects aged 30 to 65 years who had skin roughness due to physiological aging (mimic wrinkles and gravitational wrinkles) and tending to dry facial skin.

Study Duration

SHORT TERM TEST: clinical- instrumental assessment on the immediate “lifting” effect and on moisturizing action exercised by the product after 15 minutes (T15min) and 4 hours (T4H) from the single application.
LONG TERM TEST: the controls were repeated at intervals of 30 days (T30gg) of constant use of the product.

Monitoring Parameters

SKIN ELASTICITY
The instrument used was the Cutometer®. The instrument has measured the changes in the viscoelastic and plastic properties of the skin. An increase in the skin elasticity corresponds to an increase of skin firmness.

SKIN HYDRATION
The measurement of skin hydration was performed by a Corneometer®. The device has measured the hydration of the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the epidermis).

EVALUATION OF TRANSEPIDERMAL WATER LOSS (TEWL)
The parameter for assessing the functionality of the skin barrier is the Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) through the layers of the skin, as measured by the Evaporimeter.
A reduction in TEWL values means an increase in skin barrier function and thus a saving of water from the deeper layers of the skin.

SKIN PROFILOMETRY
The analysis of the skin surface of the area under treatmentwas was measured with Visioscan®. This device has allowed to quantify the variation of the depth of wrinkles, the skin smoothing and roughness.

CLINICAL EVALUATION
The dermatologist has evaluated according to clinical scores the following parameter: microroughness.

SELF-ASSESSMENT
At the end of the study period, the subjects were asked to express their personal opinion (from 1 to 10) about the treatment with the product under study.

Results

Profilometry skin – wrinkle volume

The use of the product has demonstrated an improvement (reduction in the wrinkle volume) of the skin surface statistically significant at 15 minutes and at 4 hours.

Evaluation of Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL)

The use of the product has demonstrated a reduction of the transepidermal water loss (TEWL), statistically significant at 15 minutes and at 4 hours, and thus, a saving of water in the deeper layers of the skin.

Conclusions

SHORT TERM TEST
Ialuronic Açai® Facial Serum

  • has demonstrated an enhancement of the profilometry monitored parameters resulting in improving of the skin aesthetic appearance (reduction in the wrinkles visibility);
  • has significantly increased the skin hydration rate and the skin elasticity;
  • has shown its protective effect on the skin barrier function by reducing the average TEWL values recorded.

 

LONG TERM TEST

  • The application of Ialuronic Açai® Facial Serum led to an improvement of the skin trophic state measured both instrumentally and clinically during the study. Indeed, it was found an increase in hydration and skin elasticity, a positive effect on the skin barrier function resulting in an improvement of the analyzed profilometric parameters.
  • The positive instrumental figures are confirmed by the dermatological clinic evaluation of the functional effects: increased smoothness, firmness reducing the visibility of wrinkles.
  • The positive effects of the product and the cosmetic pleasantness were also perceived by the majority of the subjects recruited in the study.
